Job Description
Baker Hughes is currently offering an opportunity for the position of Specialist – Software Engineering.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Possess a strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and various methodologies such as Lean, Agile, and Extreme Programming (XP). Familiarity with concepts related to software and product security, scalability, documentation practices, refactoring, and testing techniques is essential.
- Demonstrate the ability to write code that not only meets established standards but also delivers the required functionality, using the technology chosen for the specific project.
- Evaluate and assess application performance by comprehending performance parameters.
- Display proficiency in core data structures and algorithms and the capability to implement them using the programming language of choice.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). No prior professional experience is necessary.
- Competence in developing features such as web services and executing queries on existing database tables.
- Familiarity with Lean, Agile, Extreme Programming (XP), or similar methods and practices. Prior exposure to an agile work environment or introductory training in Lean/Agile is a plus. Proficiency in applying continuous integration (CI) is expected.
- Demonstrate a general understanding of how technology choices impact the software development life cycle.
- Possess the ability to dissect complex problems and provide accurate time estimates for development tasks.
- Stay updated on current technology trends and innovations within the tech landscape, and contribute fresh ideas to the team.
- Effectively communicate opinions with a clear rationale, using data or factual evidence to influence decisions.
- Familiarize oneself with the organization’s vision statement and decision-making framework. Understand the connection between personal and team goals/objectives and the organization’s vision.
- Adapt readily to new environments and changing requirements. Be flexible and responsive, seeking information from various sources when necessary and acting upon coaching and feedback.
