Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages.
Fluent communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications:

Enrolled in a degree program after completing the internship.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, and/or Python.
Experience in systems software, algorithms, SQL, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services (RESTful, SOAP), and JavaScript.
Availability to work full-time for 12-14 weeks during the summer.

As an Applications Engineering Intern, you will play a pivotal role in the development, deployment, and support of Google’s internal business applications. Your responsibilities will encompass problem-solving across various contexts. In some cases, you will collaborate with a team to implement vendor-sourced enterprise software, involving software configuration, customization, and integration with other internal systems. Alternatively, you may be primarily focused on creating bespoke software solutions.

Responsibilities:

Develop internal solutions, encompassing custom front-ends (web and mobile) and back-end services that automate business processes.
Adhere to best development practices, including technical design, solution development, systems configuration, test documentation/execution, issue identification, resolution, and the creation of clean, modular, and self-sustaining code.
Assist partners in resolving daily challenges by delivering innovative and scalable solutions and troubleshooting issues.
Gain an understanding of operational workflows, identify tool requirements to support operational scalability, and lead the development (initial and ongoing) and deployment of these tools in collaboration with the Engineering team.
Collaborate closely with analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Integrate third-party products into internal systems and provide ongoing support and upgrades for implemented systems.
Collaborate with internal teams to define and implement solutions that enhance internal business processes.
