Job Functions
The job responsibilities for this position include participating and assisting with testing, analysis, and troubleshooting tasks during various phases of network systems development, as directed by the team lead and/or management.
This involves ensuring the credibility and viability of the system, providing support on the initial configuration and parameters of equipment, and investigating and resolving significant matters in conjunction with other engineering and technical support to ensure cost-effective and efficient resolution of problems.
Additionally, this position assists with designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining test processes and diagnostic programs for assigned projects.
They work closely with the team lead to complete specifications and procedures for new products and are responsible for writing test plans, documenting test progress, preparing reports, and presenting results as appropriate.
They may also work with more experienced team members to define test cases, create integration and system test scripts and configuration test questionnaires from functional requirement documentation, and maintain and update defect reports following regression testing initiatives.
Finally, they may be asked to assist the lead engineer/management in writing proposals to recommend process/program and follow through on implementation.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Zero or more years of network testing experience are required, along with familiarity working with computer systems and their uses.
Additionally, candidates should have experience working with network management and protocol system testing, scripting languages such as TCL, PERL, HP, and data transmission protocols such as TCP/IP, among others.
Experience working with network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and similar tools, is also required.
Additional Qualifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, as well as strong organizational and time management skills.
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills to interact and present findings to team members, as well as the ability to pay attention to detail and follow through with tasks.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team is also necessary. Candidates must also be willing to travel for work, and the position may require shift or weekend work.
