Job Description
Position Overview
The role of the SAP ABAP Developer involves the assessment of user requirements, procedures, and challenges to either automate processes or enhance existing systems. This entails furnishing technical expertise, system design methodologies, tools, and standards that are integral to both the IT and business domains.
As a pivotal member of the SAP Core team, the incumbent is tasked with providing assistance to the business community concerning the ABAP Technical Development domain within SAP. This scope encompasses new projects as well as ongoing support across all functional sectors within the SAP framework.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Contribute programming expertise in the evaluation, design, and creation of SAP reports, interfaces, conversions, business forms, and user exits.
- Develop and maintain interfaces linking various legacy and external systems through diverse techniques like LSMW, BAPI, IDOC, RFC calls, BDC, and call transaction update methods.
- Adhere to the IT Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
- Employ debugging techniques for issue resolution.
- Generate comprehensive end-user documentation outlining program functionalities.
- Foster cross-team communication and collaboration.
- Participate in meetings outside of regular working hours.
- Collaborate with other project personnel to ensure alignment of business application systems with architectural standards, established methodologies, and best practices.
Essential Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
- Proficiency in interpersonal communication and exceptional documentation skills are prerequisites.
- Demonstrated adaptability and diligence, both in independent and team settings, even under high-pressure circumstances with shifting priorities.
- Exhibit a proactive and supportive “can-do” demeanor.
- Capability to elucidate and advocate technical concepts.
- Display excellent customer service aptitude.
- Possess robust analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, along with the ability to professionally communicate across diverse groups, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Self-management and self-motivation are integral.
- Software Prerequisites: SAP ECC 4.7 and 6.0.
- 0 to 4 years of SAP ABAP development experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ABAP programming.
- Familiarity with BADI’s, BAPI’s, LSMW, ALE, RFC calls, IDOC, BDC, business objects, classes and methods, Adobe Forms, Smartforms, SAPScripts, Data Dictionary, and ALV.
- Proficiency in implicit and explicit enhancements, screen exits, and menu exits.
- Knowledge of ABAP debugging.
- Understanding of multiple modules among SD/SM, FI/CO, MM/PP, and QM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Beneficial understanding of Workflow concepts.
- Beneficial experience with NetWeaver 7.0.
- Beneficial knowledge of BI (Business Intelligence).
- Additional experience in programming languages like Java and XML is advantageous.
