Job Description
Siemens is currently seeking a Test Engineer (Substation Automation System) for their team!
Responsibilities of the candidate include:
The Test Engineer (Substation Automation System) will have the primary responsibility of conducting tests on Substation Automation Systems designed for various voltage levels in both India and abroad, catering to diverse applications.
The incumbent’s duties encompass various phases of projects, starting with comprehending client requirements, understanding project-specific documents, configuring RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) setups based on approved documents, testing these setups, and conducting inspections alongside customers in the factory. Furthermore, the role entails providing support to the Project Management, Engineering, and Commissioning teams to ensure the smooth execution of projects.
Requirements for the role are as follows:
- Fresher or 0-1 years of experience in configuring, testing, and troubleshooting Substation Automation products and systems.
- Knowledge of comprehending client requirements.
- Familiarity with different network architectures, including RSTP, PRP, and HSR.
- Practical experience in configuring and testing Ethernet switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in working with various communication technologies such as Ethernet, fiber optics, Serial RS232/RS485, and PLCC (Power Line Carrier Communication).
- Practical experience with Substation Automation and Communication Protocols, including SNMP, SNTP, Modbus, IEC60870-5-103, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-101, and IEC60870-5-104.
- Ability to read and interpret panel drawings/schemes.
- Verification of technical compliance for hardware/software systems.
- Hands-on experience in preparing HMI configurations, including Single Line Diagrams (SLD), System Architecture, Bay Views, Interlock views, etc.
- Proficiency in working with RTU systems (such as A8000) and Device Manager configuration and testing.
- Testing of Substation Automation Systems and integration with various types of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), meters, and other devices.
- Experience in conducting Customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and ensuring inspection compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities, which are integral to the position.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, demonstrating agility, resilience, and dedication.
- A passion for learning and the ability to expand knowledge in new areas.
- Additional knowledge of Electrical Protection Systems is preferred.
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop innovative solutions and stay current with new technologies required in the business to drive new product offerings.
