Job Description
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Working full-time on projects in Pune, collaborating with Seagate Research Architects and leads in cutting-edge storage technology research.
- Investigating emerging technologies for efficient data storage, including data generated by AI/ML, mobility, and automotive applications.
- Exploring innovative electronic hardware modeling and prototyping mechanisms for secure data processing, such as computational storage.
- Conducting surveys and analyzing public and enterprise forums to develop models around emerging technologies, generate new ideas, and contribute to architecture development with senior engineers to build proofs of concepts.
- Researching and investigating emerging storage technologies, data creation models, and storage security.
- Documenting current and future storage architectures for various applications.
- Developing RTL primarily targeted at FPGA platforms for electronic subsystems at SRG.
- Supporting the development of new features, functionality, and addressing customer issues.
- Participating in RTL development, bug fixing, and product improvements related to storage-based products.
- Performing operational tests and fault isolation on electronic subsystems and equipment, identifying remedies for malfunctions.
- Assisting in the design, construction, and testing of test suites using various equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
- Providing research insights for future Seagate products and creating reference architectures.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts at Seagate’s global sites.
- Producing internal and external research papers and collaborating with affiliated schools to apply academic research in the storage industry.

Desired Experience:
Your experience should ideally include:
- Proficiency in RTL, debugging, and Unix-based Operating Systems.
- Exposure to C and C++ programming, as well as scripting languages like shell script and/or Perl.
- Experience in system design, with a strong background in FPGAs and the relevant RTL to FPGA netlist flow.
- Knowledge of processor architecture, such as ARM and RISC-V, is a valuable asset.
