Job Description

Position Summary:

With over 25 years as a global leader in networking strategy, Ciena has played a pivotal role in the networking infrastructure of some of the world’s most sophisticated companies.

We are currently seeking Software Engineer(s) to join our team, contributing to the development of products and features. In this role, you will be tasked with designing, coding, and providing support for specialized software across various NMS/EMS layers. This software will facilitate the operation of network elements, leveraging a range of technologies including DWDM, Optical Switches, and Multi-Service Edge products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the design lead to ensure successful release and feature delivery.
• Develop code in alignment with design specifications and project schedules. Adhere to organization-wide conventions and procedures, such as architecture guidelines and code review protocols, while delivering high-quality work to testing teams.
• Contribute insights to detailed design processes.
• Create and execute unit test cases.
• Assist technical leadership in defect resolution and fixes.

Skills:

• Proficiency in analysis, coding, testing, and documentation.
• Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
• Familiarity with Operating System concepts.
• Understanding of Networking Concepts.
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
  • C/C++
  • Java
  • Python
  • JavaScript/HTML/CSS/JQuery
  • Scala (Any academic projects in these or related areas would be advantageous.)

Desired Traits and Skills:

• Knowledge of micro-service architecture using Docker and Git for configuration management would be a valuable asset.
• Exposure to Linux/Unix environments is a plus.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proven self-initiative and commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work comfortably within a team setting.

Education:

Currently pursuing MCA or B.Tech. in fields like Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, IT, or related disciplines.
