Job Description
Position Purpose:
- Provide a select group of students with a comprehensive 4-6 month internship experience in the Clearing and Post-Trade Division of a financial exchange.
- Seek highly motivated individuals with exceptional academic and extracurricular achievements.
- Look for self-motivated team players with strong organization and communication skills.
- While prior finance or accounting knowledge is not mandatory, applicants should possess basic numerical computation skills.
Internship Opportunities:
- Develop tools and solutions to automate or streamline critical business processes.
- Assist the Quant Risk Team (QRT) in building research and analysis tools for various risk models, including preparing monthly reports for regulators.
- Gain understanding of Enterprise Risk management and provide recommendations for remediation and compensating controls.
- Collaborate with the Pricing and Valuation team in the OTC Settlements space to brainstorm next-generation solutions.
- Learn CME product and service launch workflows, and work on automating compression tools.
- Network and build relationships with various professionals within CME Group.
- Receive mentorship from experts in the field throughout the internship.
- Gain exposure to CME Group’s culture and develop a strong knowledge base for future endeavors.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks with high quality.
Education:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s in engineering, Bachelor’s in Science (with majors in Math or Statistics), or Masters/PhD course in a finance/mathematics-related subject.
Experience:
- Comfortable with numerical computation and demonstrates interest in financial services.
Software Requirements:
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C#, Java, C++, etc.).
- Familiarity with database management systems such as Oracle and SQL Server.
Non-Essential Qualifications:
- Knowledge of applied mathematics, calculus, economic theory, or statistics is beneficial.
- Background in Financial Engineering is advantageous.
- Understanding of algorithms, pseudocodes, DB queries (joins and views), and problem-solving approaches.
Physical, Scheduling, & Location Requirements:
- Internship duration: February to July 2024.
- Commitment of 40 hours per week.
- On-site work at the CME Bangalore Office.
