GlobalFoundries Off Campus Hiring 2025 – Intern – Data Governance Analyst
Your Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scripts and tools to automate the extraction of metadata for data cataloging and lineage analysis.
- Develop and integrate APIs to retrieve metadata from cloud services such as AWS and Azure.
- Facilitate the ingestion of metadata into enterprise data governance platforms like Collibra or Alation.
- Collaborate on the development of connectors or microservices that enhance metadata automation and governance capabilities.
- Contribute to the creation of dashboards or tools to track key performance indicators related to data governance.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and support internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Partner with data stewards, architects, and engineering teams to build pipelines and custom connectors for metadata ingestion.
- Create and update data lineage frameworks to ensure full traceability of data movement across platforms.
- Catalog and classify enterprise data assets, aiding in metadata enrichment and accuracy.
- Assist with the onboarding of new data sources and play a role in shaping metadata strategies and long-term governance plans.
Additional Duties:
- Produce documentation for integration designs, data flow schematics, and metadata frameworks to support audits and compliance.
- Help monitor and maintain metadata quality, contributing to automated data discovery and profiling efforts.
- Work with teams to define data classifications, support requests related to data sourcing and access, and ensure consistency and standardization of data resources and capabilities.
- Address evolving data management needs across the business.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Final-year student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs, including development or consumption of API-based integrations.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Proficient in a programming language like Python or Java for metadata scripting and automation tasks.
- Basic understanding of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, and foundational knowledge of data structures.
Preferred Skills:
- Interest in learning about data governance practices, including cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking.
- Exposure to tools like Collibra or Alation and their metadata and workflow features.
- Strong analytical and debugging abilities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
