GSK – Programmer/Analyst
Role Overview
In this position, you will be responsible for the following key activities:
- Transform and integrate both existing and newly acquired data sets (e.g., external data, historical trial data, real-world data, biomarkers) to support investigations aligned with priority objectives in the disease area.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the oncology field and available data sources, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs that adhere to established standards.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of the disease strategy analytics plan and other related documents.
- Identify and implement new tools to enable exploratory analysis of internal and external data.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with statisticians and other team members.
- Stay informed about departmental goals and strategic initiatives.
- Offer input on strategic planning when requested and provide insights that may be shared with stakeholders.
- Anticipate potential challenges in your area of work and propose solutions, seeking guidance from colleagues when necessary.
- Deliver innovative approaches to address complex problems within your scope of work.
- Maintain an understanding of GxP, ICH guidelines, internal protocols, and external regulations governing drug development, where relevant.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, incorporating feedback to enhance the quality of deliverables.
Qualifications and Skills
We seek professionals with the following essential qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, and/or SAS at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Familiarity with CDISC standards and their practical application.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
The following skills are preferred but not mandatory — if you don’t have them, you are still encouraged to apply:
- Experience with various data types, including historical trial data, real-world data, and biomarker data from multiple sources.
- Understanding of data reuse principles and External Control Arms.
- Experience with developing and applying Metadata Specifications/Derivations.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the clinical trial process.
- Strong understanding of the purpose and use of key clinical documents.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience representing the programming function in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.
- Some experience in training and mentoring junior programmers.
- Expertise in oncology or a related therapeutic area is a plus.
