About the Role

As an Engineering Intern at Hinge Health, you’ll be a student in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, joining us for a 6–12 month internship. You’ll be an integral part of cross-functional, agile teams contributing to our mobile and web applications. You’ll gain hands-on experience working on iOS, Android, and Web platforms, engaging in various parts of the user journey. Your tasks may include building proof-of-concept solutions, expanding well-documented APIs, contributing to new features, addressing technical debt, and enhancing automation processes. Interns are also involved in maintaining live site reliability. Throughout the program, you’ll receive support from a dedicated manager and mentorship from team members to help you navigate the tech stack, development practices, and team workflows. You’ll have the chance to explore technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, React Native, Rails, Aptible, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute code daily to help solve tangible problems as a core part of the team.
• Build, test, and deploy production-ready features within each sprint cycle.
• Learn and grow through daily collaboration and guidance from experienced engineers.

We embrace a hybrid approach that balances the advantages of in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. Team members in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite three days per week.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Practical knowledge of multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript) and frameworks.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud technologies.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts and experience working with large language models.
• Basic understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in front-end technologies such as ReactJS, HTML, CSS, and Python.
• Background in backend development with tools like Node.js or Python.
• Strong academic foundation, particularly in subjects like data structures, algorithms, and database systems.
• Hands-on project experience from personal work, hackathons, or research.
• Knowledge of development tools such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, and debugging utilities.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, along with a demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively.
