Job Description
Mastercard is currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer with expertise in Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Develop scalable and efficient data architectures using on-premises technologies such as Hadoop, Impala, Hive, and Spark.
- Evaluate and propose new technologies and strategies to enhance software system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Construct a data pipeline and compute tier operating on Hadoop and Impala/Spark.
- Conduct code reviews and provide guidance to the team, emphasizing code quality improvement.
- Lead large-scale projects from concept to release.
- Offer strategic leadership in engineering processes, specific applications, systems, and software development methodologies.
- Act as a technical resource for team members and mentor junior engineers.
- Collaborate with partner teams across Mastercard, including Software Delivery, Corporate Security, Privacy and Data Protection, and Global Product Management, to deliver high-quality solutions meeting business needs.
- Ensure that code is well-designed, maintainable, and complies with best practices and standards.
- Contribute significantly to the evolution of engineering practices within a scrum-sized team empowered to self-organize.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in full-stack software development with a focus on data-driven applications.
- Proficiency in on-premise scale-out technologies, including Hadoop, Impala, Hive, and Spark.
- Strong knowledge of database technologies and proficiency in SQL.
- Proficiency in advanced object-oriented programming.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and lead junior team members.
