We are looking for a motivated AI Research Intern who is passionate about building intelligent, AI-driven solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with SHL’s AI research team to tackle advanced problems in areas such as natural language processing, speech and audio analysis, and computer vision. The internship provides meaningful exposure to AI research and real-world product development, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time Research Engineer – AI position based on performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and experiment with advanced AI and machine learning models using deep learning techniques across NLP, speech, and vision domains.
- Build and test generative AI solutions, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and multimodal systems.
- Support the development and improvement of AI/ML applications for practical business use cases.
- Work with orchestration frameworks and model performance tracking tools.
- Collaborate on building scalable machine learning systems and deploying them into production environments.
- Assist with data gathering, labeling, and validation to enhance model quality.
- Contribute to technical documentation and research publications related to AI/ML innovations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to commit full-time for a duration of 3 to 6 months.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python.
- Hands-on exposure to AI/ML through academic projects, internships, or research work.
- Working knowledge of deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in natural language processing, computer vision, or speech technologies.
- Understanding of generative AI approaches, large language models, and advanced neural networks.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, optimization techniques, and ethical or fairness considerations in machine learning.
