Job Description
The position available requires a candidate to serve as a Design Engineer, offering design solutions for small and major projects, specifically focusing on the Chassis Structure module. The candidate should possess the ability to work independently and demonstrate proficiency in coordinating and executing complex engineering tasks with minimal supervision. This role contributes to the overall mission of the group, department, and Volvo GTT.
Core Responsibilities: As a member of the CSETA team, the primary responsibilities entail:
- Designing Frames, Cross Members, and Advanced Structures according to market requirements for trucks.
- Designing complex parts involving sheet metal and casting.
- Collaborating closely with suppliers for component development.
- Establishing a strong network with global counterparts and cross-functional teams.
- Prioritizing strategic responsibilities and participating in global projects.
- Regularly engaging in discussions and collaboration with global cross-functions (XFs) and suppliers worldwide. Active participation and contribution to topics such as Advanced Engineering, Roadmaps, and Knowledge management are expected.
Qualifications and Skills:
- B.E/M.E in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering, along with relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience in Chassis Structures within the automotive industry.
- Experience in the heavy commercial vehicle industry is advantageous.
- Good knowledge of GD&T applications.
- Familiarity with Volvo Tools and Processes is a plus.
- Possess a holistic view of deliverables from other interfaces to ensure quality and readiness prior to release.
- Proficiency in packaging, routing, and development of Chassis Equipment.
- Understanding of EV structural development is beneficial.
