CISCO Off Campus Hiring – Software Engineer – Network/Embedded/Application Development (Intern)

What You’ll Do

About the Team

This team is central to building next-generation software solutions across domains such as cloud, mobile, desktop, and security. You will work on applications designed to make technology intuitive and accessible across various devices. Your role will involve imagining, designing, and creating solutions that transform the way people work, live, learn, and interact with technology.

You will design, develop, debug, and enhance software programs, while also contributing to tools and platforms that support infrastructure and technology frameworks, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and internet-related technologies. The role may also involve evaluating hardware compatibility and influencing hardware design decisions.

Roles

Software Engineer – Networking Protocols

Strong foundation in computer science principles and software engineering, with a keen interest in learning emerging technologies.
Understanding of TCP/IP networking, including routing and switching concepts.
Knowledge of routers, switches, and network debugging tools; hands-on experience is an added advantage.
Basic understanding of security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, IPsec, and TLS, along with familiarity with threat vectors and security landscapes.
Proficiency in programming or scripting languages like Python, with a focus on performance optimization.
Experience across multiple development environments, with strong proficiency in at least one.
Inclination toward rigorous testing to ensure coverage of all possible use cases.
Strong analytical, debugging, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional teams.

Software Engineer – Application Software

Solid grounding in computer science fundamentals and software engineering concepts.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching.
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python.
Strong foundation in object-oriented programming and design principles.
Ability to scale and optimize applications for cloud environments.
Testing-oriented mindset to ensure reliability and robustness of applications.
Exposure to mobile application development or open-source technologies is an advantage.
Familiarity with debugging tools and multiple development environments.
Interest in UI/UX design and application usability.
Creative problem-solving and strong troubleshooting abilities.

Software Engineer – Embedded and Systems Development

Comprehensive understanding of computer science and software engineering fundamentals.
Strong programming skills, including proficiency in Python, with exposure to kernel, user space, and system space programming.
Deep knowledge of operating system concepts; familiarity with device drivers and BSPs is a plus.
Understanding of system-level debugging techniques and related tools.
Emphasis on system programming and performance optimization.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with a creative approach.
