As a Junior Software Engineer – Backend, your role involves writing code that runs on hundreds of servers, thousands of times per second, to ensure our games run smoothly. You’ll tackle substantial data efficiently, train machines for data processing, and explore the latest technology. You thrive on writing efficient code and solving complex puzzles, all while working with a dedicated team.

Our Backend team operates from our UK and India offices and remotely. They are a group of tech experts who enjoy solving challenging problems and are the foundation of our operations. This team ensures that all our servers perform optimally so that millions of players can continue to have a great time.
What Does the Job Entail?
Your responsibilities will include contributing to the design and architecture of our backend using Python with Flask deployed on AWS EC2 Servers. You will also implement backend features to support millions of mobile game players robustly. You’ll work with a worldwide multi-cluster Couchbase and Elasticsearch database and collaborate with other teams on any backend-related issues affecting them.
Your Technical Skills
You should have a strong understanding of writing Python code in an object-oriented fashion, with at least one year of experience in a Python REST API framework (such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, or a similar framework). While not mandatory, knowledge of NoSQL databases (Elasticsearch, Couchbase, MongoDB, etc.) could be beneficial. Additionally, you should be able to create quick scripts to expedite manual tasks and have familiarity with Unix, Linux, or equivalent development environments. An interest in console, PC, or mobile games is a plus but not required.
