Job Description
MORNINGSTAR Off Campus Hiring 2024 – Data Research Analyst
Responsibilities:
- Possess a strong understanding of market and reference data, including total outstanding shares, free float, and other relevant data sets.
- Be knowledgeable about various stock exchanges, trading boards, and holiday calendars.
- Gather and verify the quality of input data for index development and ongoing maintenance.
- Understand how different corporate actions affect entities, prices, shares, and free float data.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for system improvements and data validation processes.
- Develop and update data dictionaries and dashboards as required.
- Lead efforts to drive continuous improvement by implementing quality initiatives within the process.
- Manage data according to client-specific needs while adhering to the organization’s key performance indicators (KPIs) and key result areas (KRAs).
- Identify and raise any system, process, or data collection issues, suggesting enhancements to improve system functionality, process efficiency, and data accuracy.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or business is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in the financial sector, specifically in equity data, with a focus on corporate actions and shares/price data.
- Strong familiarity with data management policies, procedures, and commonly used technical tools.
- A passion for investing and a solid understanding of securities markets.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL for database querying and relationship understanding.
- Expertise in Excel and collaboration tools.
- Ability to work closely with global teams to meet tight deadlines while ensuring quality output.
