Job Description
Job Summary

- Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Team Lead or Project Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for tasks such as designing, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and providing technical support within the assigned domain. Ensures timely delivery while meeting set quality and productivity standards.
- Expected to comply with established guidelines and review checklists, report progress to the team lead, and follow organizational processes diligently.
- Encouraged to upgrade technical knowledge through training, self-learning, and regular technical evaluations.
Education and Experience
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MCA, or equivalent.
- Experience: 0 to 2 years.
Competency Overview
Protocol Testing Engineers work with 2G, 3G, LTE, and 5G technologies and typically perform the following tasks:
- Conduct Protocol Stack Testing for modem/UE.
- Execute interoperability testing between modems and different network providers, including interaction with Network Equipment Manufacturers (Ericsson, Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent).
- Understand signaling and user plane call flows, create and run test plans using automated frameworks, collect logs, and perform debugging and issue analysis during regression cycles.
- Strong grasp of 3GPP Radio Access Technologies including air interface, signaling protocols, and Layer 2/3 for both UE and RAN, as well as the NAS layer from the UE to the core network.
- Experience with automation using scripting languages such as PERL, Python, and TTCN.
Platforms
- Experience with internal and customer-specific platforms, primarily Linux-based systems.
Technical Standards
- Comprehensive understanding of 3GPP specifications and network vendor testing protocols.
Tools
- Hands-on experience with tools like QXDM, QCAT, QPST, Prism, Anritsu, Keysight.
- Proficient in using test scripting tools such as RTD (for Anritsu) and equivalent.
- Familiar with trace and log analysis tools, core dump analysis tools, and flashing utilities.
Programming & Scripting Languages
- Proficient in Shell scripting, TCL, Python, Perl, and programming languages like C, C++, and TTCN.
Areas of Expertise
- Specialized knowledge in 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G technologies, interoperability testing, and VSAT-SATCOM.
