Data Center Operations at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (“ADSIPL”) is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining a global Cloud Computing Infrastructure. We are seeking skilled Data Centre Operation Technicians with a passion for technology to contribute to the expansion of AWS Cloud offerings.
To meet the growing demand for disk and network capacity, we are continuously expanding our Data Centers in India. Our content delivery AWS service, CloudFront, has increased its global Data Centers presence by over 50% in the last 12 months and is expected to grow by a similar number in the next 12 months. The Opportunity: Data Centre Operations Tech
This role offers a unique opportunity to work in cutting-edge data centers at ADSIPL, contributing to the evolution of Cloud technology in India.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Problem Solving:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external customers.
- Address and troubleshoot Systems and Network hardware problems.
- Investigate and resolve Linux server issues.
- Troubleshoot XEN service virtualization.
2. Technical:
- Troubleshoot technical issues across various platforms, including Systems, Networking, and Power/Mechanical.
- Remediate physical layer outages for Systems and Network.
- Address physical power issues on racks.
- Participate in Data Center power and cooling events.
3. Operations:
- Meet 24×7 On-Call requirements and respond during shift rotations.
- Install and configure racks of hosts according to internal SLAs.
- Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in the region.
- Act as the Data Center point of contact for High Severity issues.
- Physically replace server and network device parts.
- Ensure correct rotation of parts and spares.
- Contribute to defining metrics to enhance customer uptime.
- Enforce Security Best Practices at ADSIPL.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and contractors.
- Provide input to improve operational efficiency.
4. Project Management:
- Participate in and deliver on high-impact small to mid-scale projects.
- Attend internal team meetings at ADSIPL for metric analysis and project status updates.
- Contribute to building the world’s largest Cloud infrastructure in India.
5. Mentoring:
- Share knowledge and educate less technical staff on best practices related to break-fix issues.
6. Hiring:
- Contribute to building a great team by participating in ADSIPL’s hiring process and candidate interviews.

Basic Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix Administration.
- Experience in Server Hardware Troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Server Booting processes, network protocols, and hardware.
- Strong communication skills.
- Passion for IT infrastructure and hardware.
Physical Requirements:
- This position involves a physical component, including the ability to lift and rack equipment up to 20kg. It may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- 24×7 shift rotation is part of the role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with remote access technologies such as Console routers, IPMI, BMC.
- Installation and configuration of Network Equipment, including familiarity with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, JunOS.
- Understanding of redundancy in Power feeds, ATS, Server Hardware, RAID, and Network Connectivity.
- Knowledge of Data Center Operations, including Inventory Management, Hot/Cold Aisles, and Security.
- Participation in Project Management.
- Experience or knowledge of AWS products, including EC2, EBS, S3, etc.
- Scripting skills in Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, or other programming languages.
