IBM Recruitment 2025 – Software Developer Intern
Role and Responsibilities
- Write production-quality code to build and enhance a modern data processing platform.
- Provide ongoing technical support to developers and contributors who use the platform.
- Participate across the full software development lifecycle, including system design, development, testing, and CI/CD implementation.
- Proactively learn and adopt new technologies required for platform growth and improvement.
- Apply strong object-oriented design concepts to create clean, maintainable solutions.
- Work with multiple programming languages, including at least one statically typed and one dynamically typed language such as Java and Python.
- Develop and maintain unit tests using xUnit frameworks, with a clear understanding of mocks, stubs, and fakes.
- Follow established coding standards and ensure proper documentation of code.
- Demonstrate solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance analysis.
- Build and support concurrent systems using multi-threaded, multi-process, or worker-based architectures.
- Review peer code to ensure adherence to best practices, quality standards, and style guidelines.

Required Technical and Professional Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Core Java, object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns, and data structures & algorithms.
- Experience developing end-user applications, APIs, services, and reusable libraries.
- Practical exposure to product development environments.
- Working knowledge of microservices architecture using REST or gRPC, containerization with Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes, and interface definition languages such as Protobuf or Thrift.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases, Big Data technologies (added advantage), Git version control, and Linux environments.
Preferred Technical and Professional Skills
- Strong sense of ownership with a results-driven approach to problem solving.
- Experience creating user stories and decomposing them into actionable tasks and subtasks.
- Continuous learner with a mindset focused on improvement and skill enhancement.
