Job Description

Comcast is currently seeking candidates for the position of Data Engineer 1.

Candidate Responsibilities:

1. Develop data structures and pipelines that adhere to established standards and guidelines for the organization, collection, standardization, and transformation of data to support insights generation and reporting needs.
2. Focus on ensuring data quality throughout the data ingestion, processing, and final loading stages into target tables.
3. Create standardized ingestion frameworks for both structured and unstructured data, while also monitoring and reporting on data quality.
4. Develop standardized methods for end users and downstream applications to access data, including the provision of database views, data extracts, and Application Programming Interfaces.
5. Build and maintain information systems such as data warehouses and data lakes, including the development of data access Application Programming Interfaces.
6. Contribute to the implementation of solutions in the fields of data architecture, data engineering, and data manipulation, encompassing both on-premises platforms like Kubernetes and Teradata, as well as cloud platforms such as Databricks.
7. Select the appropriate storage platform for different scenarios, taking into consideration on-premises options like minIO and Teradata, as well as cloud solutions like AWS S3 and Redshift, based on privacy, access, and sensitivity requirements.
8. Understand the data lineage from source to the final semantic layer, including the transformation rules applied, to facilitate faster troubleshooting and impact analysis during changes.
9. Collaborate with technology and platform management partners to optimize data sourcing and processing rules, ensuring data quality and process efficiency.
10. Manage data migrations and conversions as data platforms evolve and new standards are defined.
11. Proactively identify and resolve technical issues using knowledge of policies and processes.
12. Adhere to data sensitivity and customer data privacy rules and regulations consistently in all Information Lifecycle Management activities.
13. Respond to system notifications and logs to maintain quality standards for databases and applications, addressing abstract problems beyond a single development language or situation by reusing established data files and flags.
14. Address critical issues and share insights on trends and data volume related to specific data sources.
15. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.
16. Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
17. Be available to work nights and weekends as needed due to variable schedules.
18. Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
