Job Description

Role Overview
Join a dynamic, delivery-focused team where you will help design and implement data and machine learning solutions using Python. Your role involves writing high-quality code, handling and transforming large data assets, developing features, training and validating models, and working closely with senior engineers and architects to bring prototypes into production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop reliable Python components and notebooks to support data ingestion, transformation, and model development using tools such as pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn.
  • Produce maintainable, well-tested code with strong OOP practices, type annotations, documentation, and unit/integration test coverage; actively engage in version-controlled development and code review processes.
  • Investigate and analyze datasets to understand business problems, run EDA, formulate assumptions, and build useful visual and statistical summaries.
  • Build, benchmark, and refine machine learning models—choosing the right metrics, validating results, and structuring experiments for trusted outcomes.
  • Utilize SQL to extract, clean, and manipulate data while partnering in the development of dependable data pipelines that enable analytics and reporting.
  • Present insights effectively through narratives, visualizations, and reproducible workflows, connecting outcomes to product and business goals.
  • Promote engineering excellence by contributing to automation, documentation, and CI practices, consistently advocating for improvements in team workflows.

Core Skill Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in Python for data analytics and ML development, including efficient code design, debugging techniques, and packaging fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of computer science principles such as data structures, algorithms, modular architecture, unit testing (e.g., pytest), and Git workflows.
  • Foundation in machine learning and data science concepts including supervised models, regularization techniques, experimental design, feature preprocessing, and evaluation metrics such as AUC, F1, RMSE, and MAE.
  • Practical statistical knowledge covering sampling approaches, hypothesis testing, probability distributions, confidence levels, and correct test interpretation.
  • Proficiency in SQL for joins, aggregations, and query optimization, coupled with comfort using Git for collaborative development.
  • Expertise in data cleaning, reshaping, handling irregularities, and creating clear visual/analytical summaries through libraries like matplotlib or Plotly.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify problems, run experiments, produce incremental improvements, and document reasoning clearly.
  • Confident communication skills—capable of explaining complex topics to diverse audiences through concise reports and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with major data and cloud platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience working with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect and an understanding of batch versus streaming architectures.
  • Additional engineering competencies including dependency management tools, linters/formatting pipelines, logging practices, and basic CLI utilities.
  • Exposure to MLOps concepts such as model serialization, reproducible experiments, simple API deployment, and tracking solutions like MLflow or Weights & Biases.
  • Knowledge of advanced modeling approaches such as gradient boosting, neural networks, recommender systems, or time-series forecasting.
  • Experience with distributed data tools such as PySpark or Spark SQL and awareness of performance considerations.
  • Ability to build insightful dashboards and stakeholder-friendly data stories using Streamlit or Plotly Dash.
  • Algorithmic problem-solving experience through platforms like LeetCode or CodeChef.
  • Working knowledge of additional programming languages or SQL variants; exposure to JVM-based or compiled languages is advantageous.
