Job Description

Google is currently seeking a Software Test Engineer to join its team. Below are the responsibilities and requirements for the position:

Responsibilities:

1. Develop Test Strategy: Create a comprehensive test strategy for new smart home products and their associated features.
2. Automated Test Development: Build a robust and dependable automated testing framework designed to verify the seamless integration of Google devices within a continuous integration system.
3. Virtualization and Device Simulation: Develop virtualization and device simulation tools to facilitate automated feature validation. Implement test hooks to monitor the health of code and system stability.
4. Algorithm Validation: Validate algorithms running on various devices and ensure that any improvements made result in the delivery of high-quality products to consumers.
5. Analytics and Indicator Tracking: Identify key product indicators and establish analytics methods that drive the development of new features and improvements. Utilize automated analysis to pinpoint root causes of failures and indicator changes.

Requirements:

1. Education: Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent practical experience will be considered.
2. Programming Skills: Proficiency in coding using Python or Java, particularly in the context of software test automation development.
3. Device Expertise: Prior experience working with low-power, low-memory devices, and familiarity with device validation techniques.
4. Industry Background: Knowledge and experience in the consumer electronics or home automation industry.
5. Sensor Technology: Understanding of sensor technologies, filtering/sensing algorithms, and relevant validation techniques.
6. Attention to Detail: Exhibit exceptional attention to detail, along with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
7. Quality and Automation: Demonstrate a deep passion for maintaining high-quality standards and driving automation. Showcase a track record of contributing to the successful delivery of software product features or consumer devices.
