Job Description

Teradata is actively seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join our dynamic team, poised to excel in a challenging work environment while undertaking diverse projects involving the deployment of cutting-edge security solutions and the management of security technologies. We are in search of an experienced, self-motivated individual capable of ensuring the success of information security projects, with the ability to execute and deliver with minimal supervision. The role entails monitoring the progress of security projects and individual teams through Agile-like best practices, collaborating with partners across the organization to ensure project completion, tracking budgets, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. Your involvement will be crucial in evaluating the success of multiple initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deploy and configure security tools and services for monitoring and safeguarding cloud workloads, networks, and endpoints.
  2. Act as the subject matter expert on Security Engineering topics, processes, and tools.
  3. Collaborate closely with Product and IT teams to implement unified security solutions across diverse computing environments.
  4. Establish scalable processes for provisioning cloud access and maintaining least-privilege.
  5. Problem-solve and identify alternative solutions to challenges, clearly explaining trade-offs and risks.
  6. Work with security leadership, architecture, compliance, and operations teams to execute security strategies.
  7. Assess and propose cloud security solutions to leadership.
  8. Identify and automate security processes and practices.
  9. Stay updated on emerging security threats, trends, and best practices.

Team Collaboration:

You will be part of the Security Engineering team within a global Information Security Organization, comprised of Senior Security Engineer professionals collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (IT, Compliance, Product Engineering, Global Operations, and Customer Support). The ideal candidate should be adept at navigating complex situations and managing cross-functional initiatives across the entire company. This role reports to the Manager of Security Engineering.

Qualifications:

  • MS/BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Advanced degree highly preferred).

Skills and Expertise:

  1. In-depth understanding of cloud, network, and infrastructure security.
  2. Knowledge of securing solutions in complex hybrid cloud enterprise and SaaS environments.
  3. Ability to implement security best practices in collaboration with development teams and systems owners.
  4. Familiarity with one or more cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, and their security offerings.
  5. Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) languages, including Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm, Ansible, etc.
  6. Proficiency in automating tasks using Powershell, Python, Bash, or Go.
  7. Understanding of one or more programming languages, such as Python, Powershell, Bash, etc.
  8. Ability to comprehend and implement secure architectural design patterns in the cloud.
  9. Knowledge of security best practices and common frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, Common Criteria, OWASP, etc.
  10. Effective communication with business representatives to clearly explain security topics and requirements/risks to stakeholders from engineering to senior leadership.
  11. Documentation skills for deployment diagrams and operational run books.
  12. Understanding of compliance requirements, such as FedRAMP, PCI-DSS, HIPAA.
