Introduction

The role involves activities related to the development, code review, deployment, and support of new or existing Barclays software applications and information systems, as described in the key accountabilities below.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Understand the agile development methodology and apply it in day-to-day work.
  • Ensure DevOps principles are adopted in applications.
  • Assess impact of change requests/incidents against applications/products within the domain.
  • Deliver technical stories within sprint cycles as part of scrum teams.
  • Ensure story-based development and unit testing, adhering to coding standards.
  • Responsible for high-quality code meeting SQALE A rating with no technical debt within SonarQube.
  • Contribute to all agile ceremonies (planning/stand-ups/retro) for maintaining high velocity.
  • Document all work in accordance with agreed standards with reusability in mind.
  • Report progress against assigned activities promptly.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum qualification: Engineering Graduate or MCA (or equivalent degree).
  • Experience working in an IT project environment, preferably in banking and finance.
  • Strong skills in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts, Core Java 8/11, Java Enterprise Edition 6 (e.g., EJB, JMS, JPA, MDB, JAX-RS), and middleware frameworks such as Apache Camel and Spring, multi-threading, and unit testing.
  • Strong understanding of application server configurations.
  • Hands-on knowledge of RESTful API.
  • Hands-on knowledge of any one RDBMS.
  • Strong skills in Test-Driven Development, Continuous Delivery, Pair programming, and System integration.
  • Strong skills in build processes such as Maven.
  • Understand agile development methodology and apply it in day-to-day work.
  • Responsible for high-quality code meeting consistent SQALE A rating with no technical debt within SonarQube.
  • Understanding of Kafka/MQ integration.
