  • Rotations may include spending 12 months in areas such as Payments, Lending, Retail banking, or our Engineering Centre of Excellence.

What you’ll do:

During each rotation, you will join engineering teams and contribute to various activities, such as:

  • Participating in software design meetings and analyzing user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Conducting technical design, systems analysis, coding, unit and integration testing of changes to existing applications.
  • Creating Unit Tests with the goal of increasing test coverage of the overall system.
  • Supporting and enhancing Nightly Build Automations.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver various technology solutions.
  • Being an active team player in an agile development environment.
  • Maintaining existing features/modules.
  • Interpreting internal/external business challenges and recommending design solutions or best practices to improve products, processes, or services.

Rotation pathways will depend on factors like your career interests, development needs, location, and business demands. After completing the FINStarter program, you will have the opportunity to align yourself with an area of our business based on your interests, capabilities, and business needs.

What you’ll need:

  • A desire to learn and grow professionally across one or various functions within the firm.
  • Knowledge in Business, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of a variety of coding languages is a plus (e.g., HTML/HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, XML, WCF, ASP.NET MVC, XSLT, Windows Services, MSMQ, AngularJS 2, ASP.NET Web API, BootStrap, TypeScript, GIT, Kentico).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Curiosity and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a virtual environment as needed.
