The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Support Team is currently seeking a System Dev Engineer to join their ranks. This team is responsible for supporting all software applications related to the fulfillment services process, including those handling shipment, item availability, customer promises, shipment optimization, and other associated functions.

Your role in problem resolution will directly impact customers, ensuring that Amazon fulfills all commitments to them. Primary responsibilities encompass troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving production software issues, as well as developing monitoring solutions. You will engage in software maintenance and configuration, implement fixes for internally developed code (Perl, Ruby, C/C++, Java), execute SQL queries, and address technical challenges through updates and resolutions. Additionally, you’ll contribute to building tools that automate daily operational activities. Collaboration with development teams on Amazon Corporate and Divisional Software projects, updating/enhancing existing software, automating support processes, and documenting systems are also key components of this role.

The significance of your solutions extends directly to our customers. Success in this position relies on your ability to quickly learn and manage diverse and overlapping tasks. High-impact production issues may necessitate coordination across multiple Development, Operations, and IT Support groups, providing you with a broad impact across various teams.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, exhibit strong organizational capabilities, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, and maintain professionalism under pressure. Proactive problem identification and the implementation of preventive solutions are crucial. Accurate project prioritization, sound judgment, a commitment to improving the customer experience, and effective task execution are essential.

Basic Qualifications:

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as C, C++, Java, or Perl.

• Familiarity with tools for automation (building, testing, releasing, or monitoring).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in and knowledge of the Python scripting language.
• Experience with highly concurrent, high-throughput systems and a deep understanding of complex distributed systems.
