Job Description
Position Summary:
This role is integral to an agile team, responsible for testing the software applications developed within the team. It involves meticulously planning and executing manual tests and subsequently reporting the results.
Essential Functions:
- Requirement Understanding (20%)
- Comprehend both functional and non-functional requirements along with the business context underlying the application development.
- Actively participate in meetings and discussions focused on requirements clarification.
- Test Planning, Design, Execution, and Defect Management (60%)
- Develop and document test scenarios and manual test cases catering to functional and non-functional requirements.
- Execute test cases and maintain comprehensive test logs.
- Report any identified defects through the project’s designated defect management tool.
- Investigate bugs to determine their root cause and meticulously document findings using bug-tracking software.
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure timely resolution of identified bugs, including retesting and updating status accordingly.
- Team Collaboration (20%)
- Engage fully in all scrum ceremonies, including sprint reviews.
- Assist the scrum team in meeting sprint goals, extending support beyond the QA function when necessary.
- Provide assistance in application deployment as required.
- Demonstrate a sense of ownership towards assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications, Computer Engineering, Business, or Information Technology.
- 0-1+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in basic test management and defect management.
- Familiarity with functional testing, regression testing, smoke testing, automation testing, Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, Agile methodologies, Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, bug reporting, test execution, and test case writing.
- Willingness to undertake occasional short business/team travels.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Sound understanding of fundamental testing concepts.
- Basic proficiency in using test management tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to establish trust-based relationships with product heads and executive-level stakeholders.
- Attention to detail coupled with analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proficient critical thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for technology.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
