Job Description
The functional area of this role is to provide Firewall Security Engineering services while maintaining the DXC standards on various Firewall technologies.
The position requires working with multiple accounts and providing advanced technical consulting and advice on proposal efforts, solution design, system management, tuning, and modification of solutions.
The role includes collecting and analyzing data to determine customer needs and requirements, responding to requests for technical information, and providing input to DXC’s strategy moving forward.
Additionally, the position involves implementing and managing complex network security changes, coordinating implementation of new installations, designs, and migrations for technology solutions.
The main goal of this role is to ensure customer satisfaction by implementing and supporting state-of-the-art solutions, minimizing unplanned downtime in the customer’s production environment.
Roles Overview
The role of Firewall Engineers requires individuals with extensive knowledge and expertise in IT, particularly in complex and critical areas.
Their responsibilities include gathering customer requirements and providing detailed estimates, designing and engineering custom Firewall solutions, and coordinating complex changes that involve multiple support teams.
The Firewall Engineers play a crucial role in ensuring the security and reliability of network infrastructure.
They work closely with customers to identify their specific needs and provide tailored solutions that meet those requirements.
The ability to collaborate effectively with different teams is essential for success in this role.
Technical Skills
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a range of technical skills and experiences, including a security certification from one of the well-known vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint, Palo Alto or Fortinet.
They should also have experience troubleshooting a broad range of network security technologies and hold a degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Systems Management or have equivalent experience.
The candidate should have expertise in at least one specific network/security technology such as Cisco, Checkpoint, or Juniper, and experience in the implementation and support of VPN, IPSEC, SSL-VPN, PKI, and two-factor authentication technologies.
It is desirable for the candidate to have at least one industry certification such as ITIL Foundations, COMPTIA, or CISSP.
Other important technical skills and experiences include proven experience in Firewall/DMZ configuration, a strong understanding of DMVPN (NHRP, GRE, IPSec), and clustering Active-Standby Failover. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate troubleshooting skills using captures and logs.
