Job Description

Role/Responsibilities As a key team member of the MIS Tech department, this position is responsible for owning the design and development aspects of database and ETL operations for multiple critical ratings applications.

The ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of skilled professionals and establish positive relationships is essential.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing business and technical requirements to define and design the necessary database and ETL service interfaces.
  • Planning, engineering, designing, implementing, and managing database and ETL services for the relevant technologies.
  • Collaborating with developers and application leads/architects to ensure solutions align with Moody’s standards and requirements.
  • Partnering with application support and development teams to deliver resilient and cost-effective solutions that meet demanding business requirements.
  • Ensuring stability in current architectural solutions and exploring opportunities to enhance their robustness, reliability, and resilience.
  • Leading the team of developers by aligning their efforts with Moody’s future vision from a technology and culture perspective.
  • Promoting continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and teamwork within the environment.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating platforms is a must.
  • Strong hands-on experience and background in database principles and concepts.
  • Significant experience in designing and developing large-scale data solutions with a solid understanding of data modeling, data processing, data warehousing, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL and writing/understanding stored procedures, packages, and PL/SQL programming in general.
  • 0-3 years of hands-on experience with at least one of the databases including Postgres, Oracle, Teradata, DB2, Sybase, etc.
  • Proficiency in database performance tuning, including a clear understanding of indexing, partitioning, analyzing SQL plans, optimizer, hints, etc.
  • Expertise in Extract-Transform-Load (ETL)/Extract-Load-Transform (ELT) concepts, including a clear understanding of each stage and relevant tools/technologies.
  • Up to 3 years of hands-on expertise with ETL tools like Informatica, Datastage, Talend, etc., demonstrated through examples of designing and developing robust ETL processes.
  • Strong background in Data Profiling, Data Analytics workloads, and their role in the design and development of data-related processes.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams involved in applications end-to-end design, understand and clearly articulate the data pipelines and their intricacies/inter-dependencies.
  • Providing support and guidance to development teams during the analysis, development, review, and testing processes.
  • Exposure to any cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and knowledge of data engineering/processing on the cloud using tools/technologies like Python, Spark, Kafka, Glue, etc., is an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
