Job Description:
Main Responsibilities:
The primary goal is to create an automated process for converting dataframes from .xml to .csv format for use within the Flight Operations Analysis (FOA) group. This involves understanding the methodologies of both the Flight Analysis Program (FAP) and FOA, and developing a tool or script that can perform bidirectional conversions. The inputs will include raw flight data, dataframe specification documents, sample .xml files from FAP, and sample .csv files from FOA. The outcome of this internship will be a software tool capable of accepting .xml input and producing .csv output, and vice versa.
Main Activities:
- Receive training on flight data decoding and validation using the Insight tool, following the FOA process.
- Engage in decoding exercises specific to FOA.
- Familiarize yourself with FAP’s XML decoding methods for parameters and coding practices.
- Utilize the DFD tool to establish mappings between FAP and FOA data structures.
- Gain insight into the differences and similarities in decoding FAP (XML) and FOA (CSV) data for various parameter types (BNR, DIS, BCD, Standard, Derived, etc.).
- Develop a tool capable of converting between XML and CSV formats.
- Validate results against defined dataframes from FAP and FOA.
- Familiarity with tools: Insight, FAP, Python, DFD.
- Document the development process, usage instructions, and limitations of the conversion tool.
Skills:
- Basic understanding of Aerospace Engineering and flight parameters is preferred.
- Proficiency in Python programming for implementing the required tasks.
